Concert Report Essay - 721 Words
Andrew Griffin Roberta Gregg Music Appreciation 10-17-11 Concert Report 1 Initial Response: My initial response to the concert was of much surprise. First, when I walked in I didnââ¬â¢t expect to see such a formal event. Thank goodness I showed up in my work clothes! My initial reaction to the music however was one of great surprise. I didnââ¬â¢t really know what to expect from the Leeââ¬â¢s Summit Symphony because honestly I didnââ¬â¢t even know they existed. Once the symphony began to play ââ¬Å"Don Giovanniâ⬠my mood instantly changed. The symphony was incredible, and the music was not what I had expected at all. I was surprised by how much of the music I had actually heard before and just not realized it. First Half: Instrumentation and Technology:â⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦Mozart was known for these daring types of harmonic innovations. Musical Time Period: As far as the musical time period we havenââ¬â¢t covered the Classical era yet in class. However, new developments such as Mozartââ¬â¢s daring harmonies and the rise of opera music were characteristics new to the classical era. Second Half: Melody: ââ¬Å"Titanâ⬠in the beginning had a very gentle melody. As it opened the music was calm and peaceful. The shape started out very contour or a small wave, but as the music progressed the shape began to show ascending and descending patterns. The movement of the music was both conjunct and disjunct. A climax was present in the 4th section. There are a couple of times when the music builds up as if it were about to reach the climax but then descends and doesnââ¬â¢t reach the climax until nearly the end. Tempo/Dynamics: The tempo of ââ¬Å"Titanâ⬠was pretty upbeat and sprightly. As far as instrumentation wise, the strings were very fast similar to those of the baroque era. It had a dance style speed like the baroque era as well. The third movement is the slowest of the four, and fourth is the most involved. The drums really become a part of the fourth section and they make it seem as if the tempo changes drastically because they play in between the beats. The dynamics are very similar to the tempo in this piece. The introduction is slow but steadily picks up. The piece appears as if it were written to build up to the climax which is pretty cool. Health Care Profession
Question: Discuss about health care providers, managers, and administrators are faced with a variety of ethical issues? Answer: Introduction: It is quiet common in health care profession that there is always clash between a patients family and health care personnel. It has been observed that few patients inevitably suffer from the consequences, that they made during the course of their care or when they are hospitalized. Many people, who need surgical procedure or diagnostic tests, are compelled to wait months, or in worst cases for few years. This are few examples of some ethical issues that a patients and their near one may need to face in a health care organization (Breslin, MacRae, Bell Singer, 2005). Besides that there are other issues are present in health sector. Apart from that there is a great discrimination have been observed in addressing ethical issues in health care from one issue to another. Few of the issue receives great attention from different media as well as from government where as others remain unnoticed. The aim of this study to figure out three ethical issues in health sector and analyzing the issue using ethical decision making process. So doing intensive study about different ethical issues in health I have figured out three of them and mentioned below. Ethical issues: The first issue is that, there is a disagreement between the patients/ families and medical authority about the decision regarding treatment. According to expert, this kind of disagreements typically have two type. In one type health expert may impose a treatment option that is highly unaccepted by the families or by the patients. In other type, patients or families force to adopt a treatment (in terms of more or less treatment, or a completely different treatment as an alternative or complimentary method) which is unacceptable for the health care professional. The Second issue is waiting list. It is a scenario where patients of a country need to wait for long time for their turn to get health service. It has been a ongoing issue for many years in health sector because of excessive demand for health care service which is putting huge burden on the reputed health care centre and the system which regulate them. Because of this delay in treatment, patients health is compromised and the outcome may not be good some time leads to death. This delay also reduces patients ability to perform their normal function which they used to perform at work or at home. This kind of inability can give outcome like psychological distress. Waiting list may also contribute to geographical inequities in different health centres of various region (Dennis F. Pitt, 2003). The third issue is the scarcity of physicians or teams who deal in primary care in rural and urban area. According to a report by Canadian Institute for Health Information that there was a sharp fall in medical graduate starting practice as general or as a family practitioner from 80% in 1992 to only 45% in 2000. This was become a great problem for that country. Due to this trend most people who belong to rural area need to wait for long time to meet their family physician. As a result, the overall level of lifestyle is becoming poor for those people who dont have the accession of good health facilities. Analysis of those issues: To reduce the disagreement between a doctor and a patient or his families regarding the treatment method a fruitful conversation is required between both the parties. Both of them should come to an agreement that there will be no clash afterwards. The doctor needs to explain the method and intervention regarding the treatment and the benefit of the treatment to the patient and his family, and family also can add some comment in it. By which both of them can stick to a particular method. It is not a good scenario for a developed country that their citizens are waiting in queue for their turn in order to get treatment. The waiting list must be reduced and make the treatment available for all. For doing this a survey is required regarding the number of patient in waiting list, categorize them by gender and age, typing of disease (Kaldjian, Weir Duffy, 2005).Different medical authorities and doctors should be strict enough to fight with geographical inequities and they should keep an eye on those health centres which have accused for this malpractice previously. To analyze the third problem we need be broad minded enough. Most of students need to encourage for being a doctor. Someone should be there to make them understand the importance about the life saving profession. Conclusion: Everyone will face many ethical dilemmas somewhere in there life in decision making but needs to come in a decision. Few decisions can be taken in individual level which will affect the personal and professional life while few needs to take in organizational level which can affect many people. The decision which seems right at a particular stage of life may proved wrong at another stage of life. A decision maker always needs to evaluate that what factors can influence her/his the ability of decision making and what kind of process he/ she will follow if he / she finds himself/ herself well equipped with future decision making (McWay, 2008). Diabetes Essays (2543 words) - Diabetes, Diabetes Mellitus
Diabetes Diabetes is a very grave and serious disease involving many hardships, but a good diet, exercise, and overall healthy habits can keep your diabetes under control which in-turn makes you feel better and avoid later complications. Diabetes is a disease in which the body does not produce enough insulin, a hormone needed to convert the sugars and starches that we eat into energy needed for daily life. The cause of the disease is a mystery, but genetics and environment seem to play major roles. There are two kinds of Diabetes, Diabetes Insipidus and the more common Diabetes Mellitus. Diabetes Insipidus is a rare disease caused by a deficiency of vasopressin, a hormone of the posterior pituitary gland that controls the amount of urine secreted by the kidneys. It's symptoms of extreme thirst and frequent urination can usually be stopped by injection or nasal inhalation of vasopressin. Diabetes Mellitus is a more severe and common disease affecting over five percent of the population of the United States, approximately 14 million people. Mellitus is caused by a defective carbohydrate metabolism. The islets of Lange Hans, granular cells in the human pancreas, secrete a hormone called insulin that facilitates the bloo d's sugar glucose into all the tissues of the body. In diabetics the entry of glucose is impaired due to a deficiency in insulin or a blocking of its actions caused by altered receptor cells, the cells that carry the sugar from the blood into the tissue. So sugar builds up in the blood and is excreted in urine. There are also two types of Diabetes Mellitus. They are Type I and Type II. Type I Diabetes is an autoimmune disease in which the body has a severe or total reduction in insulin production, most often occurring in children and young adults. The immune system attacks and destroys the beta cells in the pancreas called the islets of Lange Han that unlock the cells of the body allowing glucose to enter and fuel them. Since glucose cannot enter the cells it builds up in the blood and the body's cells literally starve to death. Also since the body lacks sufficient energy from tissue glucose it begins to break down stored fat that produces ketenes, a byproduct of broken down fat, that makes the body's blood acidic interfering with respiration. About 700,000 people in the United States have Type I diabetes. Its symptoms are unusual thirst, frequent urination, extreme hunger, dramatic weight loss, fatigue, and irritability. If the disease is undetected or not properly treated it can quickly b ecome fatal. Death by diabetic coma was usually the outcome of the disease before insulin was discovered. The other more common type of Diabetes is Type II, affecting more than 13.3 million people in the United States. Type II Diabetes is a metabolic disorder resulting from the body's inability to make enough or properly use insulin. Sometimes Type II can be due to prolonged obesity when a rise in the level of blood sugar inactivates tissue components that are targets for insulin, consequentially killing off the cells needed to transport the sugar. Type II diabetes is most prevalent in adults over forty, but most people do not recognize the disease until they develop one of it's life threatening complications. Type II has the same symptoms as Type I including frequent infections, blurred vision, slow healing cuts and bruises, and tingling or numbness in hands or feet. Type II diabetes can be treated with oral medications, but as the person gets older and insulin production declines they may be forced to take injections. Diabetes is a chronic disease that has no cure. There are many grim and sobering facts about diabetes and its complications. Of the estimated fourteen million people in the United States with diabetes more than half are not aware of it yet. Every sixty seconds a person is diagnosed with diabetes. 650,000 people will be diagnosed this year. Diabetes is the fourth leading cause of death by disease in the US. More than 160,000 people will die from diabetes and its complications this year. Many people first become aware of their diabetes when they develop one of its complications. Diabetes is the leading cause of blindness. It destroys
